Collaborative Research Center 1678
Equity and Diversity
Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.”
– Jane Goodall
Within the CRC 1678, we aim to cultivate an inclusive research environment where everyone can excel. Our commitment lies in promoting equality within the research system, ensuring that individuals of all identities, origins, perspectives, and attributes have equal opportunities to succeed. Through our efforts and initiatives, we aim to uphold these values, ensuring that diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to all research and academic activities within the CRC 1678.
Code of Conduct
The Collaborative Research Center 1678 (CRC 1678) is committed to maintaining an open, international, and diverse research atmosphere. We want everyone connected to CRC 1678 to feel welcome and respected. For this reason, we expect all CRC 1678 affiliates—whether guests, temporary members, or long-term staff—to follow the guidelines below:
We treat others as we wish to be treated, remain open-minded, and conduct ourselves professionally and respectfully at all times. We evaluate each person’s unique contributions to research objectively, using reasonable and transparent criteria whenever possible, and provide actionable, constructive feedback that focuses on the science without being taken personally.
We value diversity and inclusiveness, fostering a community spirit in which everyone feels safe to communicate their concerns and supported by peers and supervisors, especially in challenging moments. We promote collaboration over competition, emphasizing our shared goals and the collective purpose of our research.
We encourage everyone to speak up and reach out for help, knowing that people in positions of responsibility and designated contact persons are approachable and are committed to providing guidance and support. Support is offered with professionalism and discretion, ensuring that no one has to face challenges alone.
