Reflecting on an Inspiring CRC 1678 Early Career Researcher Retreat

From July 14–16, the Early Career Researcher (ECR) Retreat hosted by CRC 1678 at Kardinal Schulte Haus in Bensberg proved to be an unforgettable experience. With its hands-on focus and dynamic spirit, the retreat brought together a brilliant cohort of young scientists to learn, collaborate, and grow.

Through engaging workshops on R programming, data management, and experimental design, participants sharpened their technical skills and deepened their understanding of effective research practices. The session on unconscious bias sparked meaningful conversations and introspection, underscoring the importance of fostering inclusivity and self-awareness in science.

Beyond the sessions, the retreat offered a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and building connections across disciplines. It was truly heartening to witness the curiosity, energy, and team spirit that each researcher brought into the space.

We are proud to have such an extraordinary group of scientists among us—eager to push boundaries, ask bold questions, and shape the future of research. Meeting all of them was a pleasure, and we are excited to watch their journeys unfold.
